)On Tuesday we took in a cultural show & some scenery around Kandy. The dancing, singing, fire eating & walking were all A1. The front row seats ensured that we saw the fire walkers up close & felt the heat in those flames. Some of us were able to catch up with Ashley Naila who is now studying after she recently left the Rehabilitation Centre were we first met her on the last fitting Trip. It was great to catch up again with Naila.
Merv & Chris took the opportunity to meet up with fellow Rotarians to discuss another project. The Tooth Temple situated on the lake was another popular destination. The day was completed at a local restaurant where several of the local delightful drinks were sampled – avocado, wood apple & pineapple.
Hands On Project Team has also now moved from Kandy back to Colombo. Along the way we visited one of the many spice gardens in this area. We were also blessed to be able to visit the Pinnawalla Elephant Orphanage to see how they care for the orphaned elephants. They are taken from the orphanage for a short walk to the river each day where they are allowed to soak in the water & spend time enjoying the river.
Tomorrow is the first of three fitting days back in the Colombo area. We look forward to making a difference for those we meet then.
